I haven't been knitting as much lately.

I've gotten interested in helping some friends and family members learn fast ways to cook healthier meals that taste good. I'll be blogging about that for a while.

I realize this block is more about "hearth and home" than just knitting but I think I'll just step back and let it be what it wants to be!

Boy do I feel dumb! Went to the help files to learn how to upload images
and found I'll need to upgrade. Got to decide if I want to spend money
or use the web space provided by my ISP.

Decisions, decisions.

The afternoon was fun. The antiobiotics kicked in, my son photographed
the Jo Sharp WIP, and I got lots of knitting in between trick or treaters.
It was a crisp, cool evening - we lit a fire, enjoyed the children and I'm
still knitting. It doesn't get better than this!
Okay working now ... apparantly it just needs a little time.

I've been knitting for years and getting better and better in a technical sense. But I've been frustrated by finished sweaters that look great on a hanger but terrible on me. In the past, I've gone on to another pattern and yarn but now realizing that I want to take the time to find some styles that are flattering and fine-tune the process until I get it right.

When shopping, you can simply keep trying on clothes until you find the style, color and fit that works. If I was paying someone to knit my clothes for me, I'd be a) paying a fortune and b) expecting custom fit and great results. I'm paying a fortune on quality yarn and I think I should be getting great results too.

I've learned about the colors that flatter me best and now I'm paying attention to styles that seem to flatter me as well. Along these lines, I think it's going to be important to settle on a yarn weight and gauge that works well and stick with it until I get it right. I've noticed the sweaters I knit for my husband keep getting better and better; now I want that for me too.

Turtlenecks are a style that works for me as well as a slouchier, longer length V-neck to layer over T-shirts. I'm going to start trying to find these two patterns in a DK weight and get going.

I'll try to post a picture of my the Jo Sharp sweater in progress ... It's coming along nicely though I've never made a sweater with so many ends to weave in. The thoughts of trying to sew it up are terrifying me!

I published but can't see the web page ..
trying again.
I'm new to blogging and probably not going about this the right way (intros? I'm passing for now.) But the knitting blogs I read are so fascinating, I can't resist jumping in.

I spent the last hour creating my first entry and it vanished when I pressed "post." So I'm going to start with a very short entry until I get the hang of this.

I'm home from work taking a sick day and have worked off and on on a Jo Sharp sweater I'm knitting for my husband. More later ...
